Named after an alternative country artist and raised in a rural corner of New Hampshire, Lyle Hutchins always knew he wanted to be a musician. His songs, inspired by artists like Bon Iver, Ruston Kelly and Snail Mail, offer a unique blend of cathartic Alternative Rock, Americana, and Folktronica that simultaneously tugs on your heartstrings and forces you to crack a wry smile. Over the years, Lyle has gone on to study Popular and Commercial Music at Loyola University New Orleans, playing all over the city in clubs and bars including Tipitinas, Carrollton Station, and French Quarter Festival. He travelled to Nashville where he was sponsored to attend Americana Fest 2023 (during which Hutchins got the chance to meet his namesake, Lyle Lovett.) More recently, he has performed with Noah Kahan’s bassist and virtuoso session musician Alex Bachari, spent his time networking with everyone from managers to sound engineers, and put as much of his remaining energy into perfecting his craft as possible. With the end of his time at college in New Orleans, Lyle released his debut album Flatlander, a fourteen-song narrative which explores the beauty and danger of nostalgia, homesickness and heartbreak, underscored by the trials and tribulations of pursuing an often misunderstood career in music.

“If you were looking for a perfect example of where the rootsier side of music is heading today, I can think of few better examples.”
Dancing About Architecture
-
“It’s a remarkable debut from an artist who’s just getting started, but already sounds like he’s been here all along.”
Planet Singer
-
“Lyle is a thoughtful and intricate songwriter and performer…His latest album is sweet, and reminds me a bit of Kings of Convenience. It is the perfect album to put in your ears on a summer day walk. He writes with such intention.”
Maia Ciambriello of The Army, The Navy
-
"There are nods to Vacationer, to Wilco, to Mumford and Sons, to MJ Lenderman — but none of those references fully pin Hutchins down. He’s carved his own lane between Americana’s sincerity and indie’s experimental edge, delivering songs that soothe while they stir."
Music Farmer
-
“This album offers an incredibly varied array of influences, ranging from pop rock to power pop, 60s music, and even some 70s vibes.”
the bandcamp diaries
-
“With thoughtful production, expressive vocals, and a clear sense of artistic intent, Flatlander is a confident debut that resonates beyond its influences.”
